There are several option available, but the most popular is the "very cost effective" village bus service which also provides a great experience into the traditional way of live on the island. Buses operate Monday to Saturday (7am to 5pm), they stop 350 meters from the Lodge and there is a bus about every half hour! The bus fare (to or from Nukuʻalofa) is T$ 2.50 per person/per way. Taxis are also available on call (24 hrs) and are most cost effective when used as a shared transport option, a small bus taxi can fit up to 7 adults and costs T$30 to T$35 to or from Nuku'alofa. Shuttle transfers can be arranged for almost any group size and the cost per person depends on the total number of passengers (please ask). Rental cars, scooters and bicycles can also be arranged and daily rates are available from (T$50 for a car or a scooter & T$10 for a bicycle). Please note: A Tongan drivers license is needed to hire cars and scooters.
Services: One of the great changes from moving the lodge to Haʻatafu Beach must be the additional activities that are now available at your doorstep. In addition to the now even larger botanical gardens, you can also enjoy long beach walks, romantic sunsets, wave surfing, snorkelling, whale watching from the shore (in season) and village walks or bicycle excursions through some of the Kingdom’s most welcoming and traditionally preserved communities.
